Happy Birthday!

Avui és el 38 aniversari de la canadenca Martha Wainwright, la més jove d´una família d´impresionant currículum musical: filla de Loudon Wainwright III i Kate McGarrigle (en pau descansi). I germana de Rufus Wainwright, qui per cert està confirmat com a cap de cartell del primer vespre del vilanoví i recent nat VIDA festival (hereu de l´enyorat Faraday).

Martha va debutar a Espanya (i no sé si a Europa!) de la mà de Waiting For Waits quan tenia 27 anys i començava la seva carrera. (El meu agraïment al seu marit Brad Albetta per haver-ho fet possible).

Era el juliol de l´any 2003 i únicament tenia un Ep enregistrat:

Va telonejar al gran Peter Case en dues actuacions: una a ARCA i l´altra al temple pobler de Sa Congregació, on es va passar tota l´actuació de Peter xerrant per teléfon amb el seu al.lot de Nova York...A n´en Pep Zero encara el renyen de l´Ajuntament de Sa Pobla per la factura telefònica de l´estiu del 2003 (ja,ja,ja).

Xerrant de telefonades en la distància, sabeu quina va ser la versió de Tom Waits que va fer Lady TAURUS Wainwright?. Idò si, una de la bellíssima "Martha" de l´àlbum de debut del californià Closing Time:

Vos deix amb un tema propi de Martha Wainwright, que suposa ja el número 11 del playlist Lady Taurus, no sense abans recordar-vos que avui també és l´aniversari de MARTA Sánchez! (qui fou mite eròtic de tota la secció masculina de la meva classe de -any 1988- vuité d´EGB...quan dic tota m´incloc!)

N´Alejandro Magno, En Pau i Na Pau (Capricornis tracks #12 i #13)

A banda d´en Rod Stewart (no rigueu, que tan els seus primers àlbums en solitari com els dels Faces eren fabulosos), avui fa anys l´immens Alejandro Escovedo (10/01/1951; San Antonio-EUA).

¡Felicidades, Maestro!

Durant tant temps en el punt de mira de les promocions Waiting For Waits, però mai es va conseguir una actuació seva a Mallorca (de fet el seu debut a Espanya data de fa ben pocs anys; i això que el seu songwriting mereix tants seguidors o més que d´altres del génere com ara Elliot Murphy).

Com segurament se xerrarà bastant d´Escovedo en aquest bloc, pel playlist Capricorni he triat un tema del seu primer disc en solitari, Gravity , publicat al 1992 i marcat per la devastadora notícia del suicidi de la seva ex-dona un any abans.

"Last To Know" (CAPRITrack #12)fou el primer d´un bon grapat de temes monumentals al llarg de la seva carrera.

I si el 31/12/2013 xerravem de "Thirteen" de Big Star com a millor balada d´amor adolescent de tots els temps, toca ara escoltar la millor balada mallorquina d´amor als 13 anys, composada per Jaume Bergas (negrei3colors), aprofitant que també avui és el seu aniversari (molts d´anys compare balearico!).
